%X L-band polarimetric SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data collected through a data acquisition campaign with the R99B sensor, is now available in areas of economic and strategic importance to Brazil in the Carajás Mineral Province, due to the presence of several mineral deposits such as iron oxide-cupper-gold. The campaign was designed to simulate MAPSAR data. In this work, the potentiality for geological and structural mapping contained in the SAR-R99B data in the Sossego/118 area, located in the Carajás Mineral Province, is analysed. HSV technique was applied in order to integrate SAR-R99B amplitude data with ASTER visible and near infrared imagery and with airborne geophysical data. The output images provide significant information about geological structures and lithological units associated with iron oxide-copper-gold deposits. The results may be used in spatial modeling in a GIS environment, with the aim of composing a mineral potential map of such deposits for the study area.
